PBS to Broadcast the IBL Opening Game in the United States

When the two distinct concepts of “Baseball” and “Israel” were first posited together last year in a column that appeared in the New York Times, rarely has a combination seemed more perfect.

So it shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that the historic Opening Game of the Israel Baseball League will be broadcast in the United States on PBS, which will allow more fans to watch the broadcast than on cable or satellite. PBS is broadcasting the game in recognition of the fact that the game transcends more than just the playing of a baseball game itself.

Opening Game, which will be broadcast in its entirety and include related features and interviews, will be aired on Sunday, July 1st, on a delayed basis, in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Miami, and West Palm Beach. Following the game, DVD’s of the broadcast will be made available for purchase through the PBS stations.
